We, like everyone, had pretty high hopes for the Zune's "social" capabilities, but three plays in three days isn't really doing it for us. SanDisk's Sansa Connect isn't a Zune replacement, but more akin to the MusicGremlin, albeit with four gigs of flash memory instead of an eight gigabyte microdrive. At $250 plus PlaysForSure comaptible music service, you can get social a bit easier.

If the RoboQuad and RoboBoa didn't scare you enough, now we've got a video of the scariest Robo-animal of them all... the RoboPanda. The fun lil' cutesy robot sounded like it had the potential to go iRobot / Matrix / [insert favorite robots take over world scenario here] when the bot asked, "Have you ever been attacked by a panda?" It really did say that, but if you could avoid the obvious welcoming of our robot panda overlords, we'd appreciate it.

We've started seeing UMPCs crop up everywhere. At Via's booth at ShowStoppers, there were about seven different UMPCs, but the Medion caught our eye. We hear from some other folks it's got pretty good battery life for a UMPC, and you should be able to get it in your own hands for under ten benjamins. After we stopped by Intel's booth to give it a more thorough run through, the keyboard was frankly crap, so caveat emptor. Download it below, or watch the usual flash video above.

HP isn't exactly known for their revolutionary design chops, but they're certainly making some strides toward more creative desktop PC designs. You know the drill, download below, watch it up top, and download the stills for some HP fanboy-quality wallpaper.

This could be reaching out to our geek audience a bit too much, but the combo media dock-cum-projector housed in the Nikko Electronics R2D2's guts has to get at least a look. Besides the fact that it's the iconic little droid, the projector's remote is housed in a Millennium Falcon Hyperdrive, adding to the geek cred. Granted, the $2,500 price tag could be a bit prohibitive for your 12-year-old Star Wars obsessed nephew, but maybe he could give the wireless R2D2 webcam, or the Anakin Skywalker Lightsabre Skype phone a go. Nick Negroponte's OLPC made an appearance at CES, in partner Marvell's booth. Marvell supplies the 802.11 b/g chipset, as well as a chipset made exclusively for mesh networking. Fortunately for us (but unfortunately for Marvell) we all know why everyone showed up, and it definitely wasn't for ICs. Take a look up top, or download at the bottom.

The last time we saw Asimo, it was falling down stairs. Call us sadists, but we went to Honda's press conference hoping we'd see a repeat performance from the biped. Unfortunately for us, the three-foot tall humanoid robot didn't fall over, but instead ran across stage, ran in circles and even made it up the stairs. On the other side of Paradise Road, Sandisk rolled out a few PMPs of their own, including one featuring song sharing over WiFi. The Blu-Ray Association says they've already won the format war... despite what rationality might tell one about an eight-month-old gadget in the middle of a bloody market share battle. Last year, iriver introduced the clix, known as the U10 elsewhere. Well, the second gen model looks like it's hit the gym and slimmed down to a much more attractive exterior. The beautiful, sleek and tiny OQO Model 02 is a device you've got to get your hands on to truly appreciate. The updated version sports integrated WiFi, Bluetooth and oh yes, integrated 3G support. Co-founder Jory Bell sat down with us for a few minutes to give the device a run-through of the main features.

The K5 looked great and everything, but for those not digging the external speaker or people looking for a potential Nano competitor, the K3 looks like it could do the job. Emtrace's WidgetStation is an interesting continuation in the "hardware widget" category of devices. Granted, the utility of a dedicated clock display, plus widget display is limited, but at least getting data on your WidgetStation is expected to be simple. Last time we saw the device, it had integrated Ethernet, but no other connectivity options. Now, the company says you can also use integrated WiFi and Bluetooth to push updates. As for the meat of the device -- the widgets -- the version being shown sported built-in Flickr, GMail and a calendar app, among other widget mainstays. The downside? Right now, the widgets are all proprietary, but as the video says, Emtrace is trying to move to an open widget architecture in the future. Also, no pricing yet, but the company anticipates a Q2 launch window.

WowWee's latest robotic creations, the RoboQuad, the RS Media and... a singing likeness of Elvis Presley... took the spotlight earlier today at CES Unveiled. Yeah, the singing Elvis sounds creepy, but check out the video to see just how creepy.

We got our grubby lil' mitts on Asus' first Sideshow laptop at Saturday's CES Unveiled event. Granted, we didn't have a whole load of time to give it a thorough run through, but peep the video for an idea of how a widgetized auxiliary display works while the computer is off.

What a week for product launches! Seems like out of the gate past E3 everybody wanted to get theirs out the door: Apple loosed the MacBook, Motorola and Verizon launched the Q, Sprint and Verizon launched the Palm Treo 700p, and Sony launched their UX Micro PC. But it wasn't all rosy new toys for everyone to play with, Creative and Apple are heading to court to go toe to toe over some patents, as apparently is XM and Pioneer over the RIAA-contestable recording capabilities of the Inno. Sony may have had their fun on Monday, but Tuesday turned out to be one of the news-packed days of the gaming year thus far. Nintendo decided to one-up Sony by adding additional speaker support for the Wiimote, demo actual Wii gameplay, and generally pump up and hype out their next console like nobody's business. Shortly thereafter Microsoft set us off with some footage of up and coming 360 titles, as well as some new periphs, including the vaguely maligned and long awaited Xbox 360 HD DVD drive. Joystiq editor Vlad Cole steps to the mic and joins Ryan for today's Engadget podcast -- one merely consisting of lengthy pontifications on the two gaming giants' moves against their respective competition.
