T-Mobile vs. Vodafone: November 29th, Germany -- be there

The gloves are off and the court date is set: T-Mobile faces off with arch rival Vodafone on November 29th in Germany. Will T-Mobile's exclusivity on the iPhone continue unabated or will Germany's other carriers (and their consumers) still not reap the benefits of an unlocked iPhone due to its prohibitively high, €999 cost? Pssst, hey Germany... yeah you. Just in case T-Mobile wins and discontinues the unlocked offering, November 29th is the same date that your neighbors in France will start selling their iPhones. Chances are, an unlocked version will be sold too. Just saying is all.

i bought this morning an iphone unlocked from TMobile for Euro 999. It took 24 hours, as the salesman told me, to get it activated. All i had to do is put my SIM card in and connect to iTunes. iTunes then told me "congratulations, your phone is now unlocked" and the iPhone was activated. It was that easy!

now if only this could happen in the states. It would be ironic if T-Mobile USA decided to take on ATT, but hey i want an iphone on t-mobile instead of having to check the dev team for unlocking methods.

I hope they release it unlocked for a smaller price in France (even though I doubt it). I would be willing to pay as much as €499/599 for an unlocked iPhone (as opposed to the €399 with an operator plan) but nothing above that. Oh if it's unlocked, it had better no be gimped of features (yes I'm looking at you Visual Voicemail...).

It would be really interesting to read out the officially unlocked firmware and compare to the locked one, to help dev team create a clean unlocking solution... if itunes can simply unlock any phone, there should be a clean way to do it with any phone not just 999 eur ones.
