This is just more proof of what a game changer this phone really is. These companies are shitting their pants, because this device is flying off the shelves! Did anyone bring a law suit against Motorola when they sold the RAZR exclusively for the first 3 years? The RAZR by the way sold 50 million plus!! Can't wait to the figures on the iPhone after a full year! Glad I have owned a ton of Apple stock for years! I think Apple should sell it unlocked at 3 times the locked rate.
As far as i know the razr was never exclusive to one provider in germany.
The phone there is considered a regular electronic device, not locked, fully functional with any network provider and can be obtained either in any regular shop or subsidized through the provider. Subsidized phones are branded (inkl. software) but none the less fully functional independently form your provider. (they only lock prepaid phones given they're more or less free)
This is the thing i hate about iphone not the phone because that is truly a great product, but the fanboys that follow it. In reality world companies like Nokia(go check how many phones they make in 3 months and how much of revenue they get)arent too worried yet. Will take years from Apple to be there to even have the logistic that Nokia has. Thought that said it would be stupid from Nokia and others(maybe even more Motorola) to put some big guns to the field. I cant see Apple being the guy leading mobile phone market, but its a fresh new comer with perfect timing when Nokia has had its number one status with no truly competition and because of that maybe been slipping a bit.

Maybe it's because Motorola is the manufacturer of the Razr.
