Then why report this ??? Why dont you report that 1.1.1 iphones can be downgraded and unlocked now or something. thats much more interesting then a news story you report simply to prove its false???
Sometimes we have to debunk. We've been getting hit all morning with "ZOMG!!! 16GB iPhone" tips. Sometimes the act of clearing up misinformation is newsworthy.
Sometimes you have to debunk, Thomas? I thought this was a gadget news site, not a rumor overlord site. Why would Engadget have any concern one way or another on such a petty rumor? It's sad that you feel it more important to participate in Apple rumors for revenue than to stick to your original mission.
Imagining a 16GB iPhone isn't hard; what would be newsworthy would be a ship date.
Probably to try to squash the rumors. How many times can they report 1.1.1. We all know about that, but I would rather have an intelligent conversation about the possibility of a 16GB iPhone and possible dates. This kind of buzz gets back to the other manufactures and makes them step up their game to stay competitive. It also doesn't make us look like a fool reiterating fals news.
