HTC Touch Slide pictured ahead of October 1 announcement?

Remember that press event HTC's got coming up early next week? There are plenty of rumored HTC devices that could be announced -- and a few in particular we know readers are pulling for -- but it looks like we've got at least one here that's a lock to see the spotlight. Known to many by the codename "Nike," the HTC Touch Slide takes the original Touch's small, finger-friendly package and makes good on two of its indiscretions by adding a slide-out keyboard (similar in layout to RIM's SureType) and a 3G radio. Other features should include WiFi, 128MB of RAM, 256MB of Flash, and from what we can tell, a diminutive case that holds true to its forebear despite the fresh slide mechanism. Oh, and you NTT DoCoMo users over there, stop gloating that you've had this thing for a few weeks, would ya?

No less uglier than a Sidekick, Palm or Blackberry if you ask me! And at least you can HIDE the keyboard.

Jeez... HTC is knocking them out left and right lately, eh? TyTn2, Slider Touch... now can someone please tell T-mobile to get off their asses and implement some 3G already??? I'm tired of not have a 3G phone to play with! (I refuse to change to any other carrier, T-mobile's the only one that has been kind to me).

Man I didn't know this had a sliding dialer... That is my biggest complaint with the touch phones, I want keys to make a simple call. Why, I can dial without looking at the device.

Yes, the matte black finish it hot. the iPhone looks so dated with the tacky chrome trim IMO

The only reason I still have t-Mobile is bc of my grandfather plan...Unlimited pic/text msg for $10, unlimited Internet $4.99 and1000 day min and unlimited Nights/weekend plus my job discount grand total of $48 monthly bill...SWEEET..and The fact that i can use almost any unlocked phone on there network...Forget the iPhone with the ball and chain, At&t i got the HTC s710 (which I am selling BTW to buy the Viewty but i may now be keeping my eyes on this touchy product here, Mmmm touch and slide) and my iPod Touch 16GB (with the update is MEGASWEET). I'd have to say I don't like the idea myself. HTC has several phones that have side sliding full keyboards, down sliding keypads, etc. The Touch was a phone that was supposed to be key free, and rather than forcing themselves in partnership with MS and Windows Mobile to create a better Touch platform, they've just turned it into another phone with a keypad. It's a nice looking phone, don't get me wrong, but I think it sort of tainted the point of it being the HTC "Touch".

Rumor has it that AT&T will remove the slide function of the phone if they get it. After all, they have a standing philosophy to remove the most useful feature of any phone that comes their way.

You only have to reset WM if you don't know what the hell you are doing, which sounds like you don't. You keep your apps closed when not using them so you aren't chowing down on resources and WM is as stable as any other smartphone.

The keyboard is a nice feature although I have gotten used to a 3rd party (legally installed on my phone trouble free :-) ) called PhonePad for T9 texting. What I really like is 3g and more memory compared to what was on the original Touch.

If you compare it with the HTC Touch, it doesn't has the HTC logo from where the TouchFLo Starts. As far as I've noticed, all HTC PDA's have this Htc Logo somewhere near the screen. But well lets wait until we get a better proof i.e. Oct. 1.
