Well, the german Kult is more like Cool/asked after/liked or something... It´s used with things like the VW-Käfer or (what a suprise) the Ipod...

Kult is something that is both cool and classic - like Pulp Fiction.

When advertisers use it for new products it's generally cringe-worthy.
