AT&T botches Nokia N75 launch, pulls from site
Seriously, AT&T, stop playing with our emotions like this. Either you have the N75 available for sale or you don't -- but please, none of this wishy washy "we'll put it up for a little while, then remember that we still don't have any to sell and pull it from the site" business. For a phone this hotly anticipated by the Nokia, Symbian, smartphone, and 3G faithful, you'd like to think that the largest GSM carrier in the United States would run a significantly tighter ship in bringing this one to market, rather than give us a few hours of perceived availability followed by an ominous "Temporarily out of stock" warning in place of the "Add to cart" button. Bah, who are we kidding? Anyone taking bets on when these things will actually be widely available?
Update: It seems a few lucky folks are still able to see the phone listed as in stock. For the emotional well-being of the remainder of the country, we hope AT&T gets its story straight sooner rather than later.

erm, isn't it possible that they sold out their initial online stock in a few hours?

Wally - what's of major concern to us is that the phone is no longer showing up for any zip code, as far as we can tell. We're only able to even get to that direct link because we already knew the URL.

Well, the phone is available in Las Vegas. Just added it.

REMINDER: 30 days from now, the iPhone is supposed to be available from the same people that brought you this SNAFU.
I am sure that Nokia is a cool little phone, but Ma Bell can't even manage to get a relatively low demand ( compared to the ravenous hoards who want the iPhone )model out the door?
Very, very worrisome.
chaz @ Apr 27th 2007 3:42PM
Wornd on the inside is that Cingular is scraping this model in favor of the N95 for Qtr 4 2007.

I know the team that is responsible for pushing out the updates for the cingular.com site, this was definatly not planned. Anyone that has worked on a production website knows how hard it can be to coordinate all of the different moving parts of the site. Things like this can happen. These guys are very much aware of the impact it has on cingular (AT&T) customers and under no circumstances did this on purpose. The phone has been pulled out now and is not available to order at this time. I do not have the actual launch details.

bahh i just want a clamshell symbian.
MinceyFresh @ Apr 27th 2007 4:54PM
Maybe that means that hell will freeze over and we'll get the N76 and those sleek lil S60 handsets from LG & Samsung in this country... Okay, maybe not, but seriously, why aren't *those* phones being marketed here???
And is it just me, or was the 6682 (which is starting to look like an archeology discovery) the last Symbian S60 phone to actually be held by a US carrier?
jim jonze @ Apr 28th 2007 1:24PM
The 6682 was the last mainstream S60 phone, but AT&T has offered the business-oriented E62 since last fall.

wow... just had a look at the list of phones available on ATT. Where are the Samsung ULTRA series? Most of the Nokia N series? Are they hidden somewhere on that website or really not available?
I am in Asia right now so this is a bit surprising...

I called cingular about this today and they said that the handset would be in stores by mid-may to early june...

I had to go to a Cingular store today for another reason and asked about the N75 which I've been waiting for forever. The women told me that the corporate office said that they would be releasing the phone soon, but definitely within the next month. Furthermore, she hinted at the fact that they may be doing a software upgrade of some sort (AT&T branding maybe)...
