Hip-IP's Mobigater Pro routes Skype calls to your mobile
Routing calls every which way has been going on forever (well, almost), and Hip-IP's Mobigater Pro doesn't differ a whole lot from other Skype-to-cellphone channelers that we've seen in the past. Essentially, the device seamlessly "transfers your Skype calls to your mobile phone without the use of SkypeOut credits," as it connects to your mobile via an internal SIM card. As predicted, it interfaces with your PC via plain ole USB, and users can not only ensure that they never miss an incoming Skype call, but they can phone up other Skype users around the globe just by using minutes from their mobile plan. The device can even redirect calls to five different handsets, but considering the £185.99 ($373) pricetag required for such a luxury, only the heaviest of yappers need apply. Click on through for a shot of the rear.

When it drops, keep your eyes open for a few hacks. Looks to me like there's a few unused (disabled?) ports (features?) on that thing. Wonder what its packin'...

This could be smart in the USA - with most networks offering free talk from other phones on the same network, you could pay the $10 for an additional line, plug that sim card into this box, and have free unlimited calls from all your skype friends. Get a skype-in number, and you have unlimited in calling!

Hip-IP.com are an online retailer selling this product. The official pressline clearly states that Eurodesign Ltd BG are the manufacturer of the product but this has been lost in translation. Best Regards

Well this is cool thing. But who are Hip-IP's. Mobigater is made by a Bulgarian company Euro Design BG Ltd. The official website is www.mobigater.com. There are unsued ports because there are 2 models. Mobigater Plus and Mobigater Pro. The second one has all the ports ;)

Boring, I've been using the X-Series on the 3 3G network in the UK since last year on a Nokia E61. 3 use a local mobile number they call "Skpe Service" to recieve and make calls from Skype. Me think it's the best mobile tarriff anywhere in the world since for £5.00 flat fee you get broadband tariff on the move. Don't even need to burn your Skype Out/In credit if your're smart. I've got a UK 0870 number that gives me kickback routing through Skype to my E61 on 3. Sweet! Not sure this is useful in Europe at all. If you're interested in finding out the joys of using the E61 Nokia and all X Series on 3 follow these two links. http://www.e-series.org/archives/242 and http://www.three.co.uk/xseries/index.omp
