Sony Ericsson's K810 and K550 Cybershot phones: slim 3.2 and 2.0 megapixel shooters
So in addition to the W880 Walkman, Sony Ericsson dropped a couple of slim Cyber-shot phones into the mix today with the introduction of their new K810 (on left) and K550 Cyber-shot handsets. The feature rich 17-mm K810 boasts an image stabilized 3.2 megapixel camera with auto focus and Xenon flash. The K550 packs just a good shootin' 2.0 megapixel cam and LED photo light but does so in a 14-mm form factor. Both devices bring an RM radio with RDS and support for Memory Stick Mico (M2) cards. The K810 has a second cam up front for video calls and goes UMTS 2100 and GSM 900/1800/1900 -- available beginning Q2 2007 in Europe and Asia. The K550 is a quad-band EDGE device that launches in North America from Q2 2007. Er, can we choose again?

I'm going to reserve judgement on the K810 until I see it's back. I really liked the K800 untill I saw the massive slider hanging off it's rear.
Please, please don't ruin another great phone SE

So hot. SE's style just keeps getting better.

Can anyone confirm weather or not the K810 has image stabilization?
Sagar @ Jun 2nd 2008 2:21AM
Yes It has.
Nate Cernetic @ Feb 6th 2007 7:54AM
those buttons look kinda iffy
JD @ Feb 6th 2007 9:31AM
I'm confused. Did the K800 ever even get released in the US? And now the best were getting is the 2 megapixel version in 4 months?
skube @ Feb 6th 2007 10:59AM
I'm disappointed. I have the k750i and was hoping to upgrade, but with those tiny, compacted buttons, the k810i just doesn't look worth it. Thin sure, but c'mon SE you can do better...

I'm confused. All of the pictures show 2.0 megapixels. Isn't one of them supposed to be 3.2? Are the pictures just of one model in black and silver?
Bobgorila @ Feb 6th 2007 12:52PM
The only photos of the backs have LEDs, not "real" flashes. So basically, SE don't want us to know what the back of the k810 looks like yet...
And still no word on this supposed new UI that was snapped on the W880. The specs pages do mention these phone shave some kind of flash player on them though...
As to the buttons, I thought only Nokia were allowed to use retarded button designs?

I've updated the gallery to include the rest of the K810 photos including shots from the back and from the sides. They were not available when we posted this.

Is it me or does the K810 have no advantages over the K790/K800? It looks like it has crappier buttons and (from the image posted by TrueDis) no lens cover, and the same lens bulge.
I'm actually happy about this, siiiince there's no way I can afford to upgrade my K790a right now :D
Bobgorila @ Feb 7th 2007 2:34AM
Well, the lens bulge is way smaller, which no doubt contributes to it being 5mm thinner.
And it maybe has some new flash-based UI on it... maybe.
But basically, no. It's an update release.
no3rdw @ Feb 6th 2007 3:38PM
Ah ok, there's a lens cover visible in the new photos. As far as looks, this is almost an exact copy of the K790 but with those strange round buttons!
Sam @ Feb 6th 2007 7:20PM
Why do we in the US keep getting the shaft on this? Who is still making EDGE phones? Come on, manufacturers, get with the times. We don't want this shit anymore.
ps @ Feb 7th 2007 1:15AM
nice! if they'd only drop that dumb green bulbous 3dish logo, i'd say they're near perfect.
Kyakko @ Feb 9th 2007 2:24PM
i have a k790a and i actually perfer the small round buttons. the square buttons on my k790 are so flushed together, it's easy to accidently press the wrong button. i'm sure sony-e had alot of complaints and changed it
REO @ Apr 12th 2007 6:54PM
3.8mm lens???? Hmmmm... this could affect photo quality. K750 /W810 have 4.8mm lenses.
Eric Leung @ Dec 4th 2007 3:08AM
it actually has a 5.2 mm lens
manu @ Oct 31st 2007 7:10AM
i think se k810i is pretty good, however the night mode seems to be missing.
Amir farzaneh @ Aug 18th 2008 2:26AM
Whether or not the K810 has image stabilizer? where can i activate and deactivate this feature?
