Couldn't this just apply to the Rockr phone with Itunes? Wouldn't the file fail to copy simply because the phone only supports music?

True, but the iLounge article has quotes showing that itunes WILL be syncing video to a phone. Given the other reports of an impending iPhone release, Id bet Apple would hold off giving itunes/video features to motorola until well AFTER the iPhone release. I think its too much of an edge to give away at this time. Thus it sounds to me like the iPhone's coming soon.
Here are some of those quotes:
