Just before you start blaming dear old Richard, Virgin Mobile has merged with NTL a few months back. NTL do mad things liek this and thei customer service is apalling. Its a shame as Virgin were great for people who don't use their mobile much like me. Pretty cheap phones and not bad prices. I'm going to have to switch before NTL start mucking about with it next year.
