Novatel EV-DO ExpressCard next month?
We've still yet to hear of any
solid 3G ExpressCard device releases as yet (we were kind of hoping CTIA would have yielded at least one or two), but
Om seems to have the scoop on a Novatel EV-DO ExpressCard 34 launch for May -- whose most obvious application right now
is, of course in Apple MacBook Pros. Granted, we wouldn't be in
this predicament if Apple had just followed through with internal integrated 3G like so many other laptop manufacturers,
but hey, you've got what we've got, and we'll takes what we can gets. There's no way of knowing, however, when the
cards will hit the market with Sprint or Verizon even if Novatel launches their card in May, so stay tuned.[Via TUAW, image via EVDOinfo]

Afterthought, it's a Saturday. Give 'em a break to rest after their eighteen hour days of RSS culling and blogging. And Saturdays always tend to be low-volume posting days.

It would be a mistake for a laptop manufacturer to build in a 3G capability. Which one do they choose? There's no single standard used in America never mind adding in Europe and Asia too.
Plus, even if they did region specific 3G, in a couple of years time it'll be obsolete anyway.

EV-DO built into a MacBook?
Nah, they're saving that for the iPhone!
Seriously though, Shaun is right.

Woohoo! This is excellent news. This is the one item that has kept me from moving up to a new MacBook Pro. I simply can't live without my Verizon EVDO card. Sounds like soon I won't have to!!

Hopefully Apple will update OS X so that it will automagically recognize the new Express card. They havent updated support beyond the first gen card (that sucks!). Hacking plists isnt very Mac like.
