Bose's new Wave Music System

Bose recently released the latest revision to their Wave Music System which looks, you guessed it, just like the old Wave Music System. The system has an auto dimming fluorescent display, a Bose link interface that lets you link up with other Bose products (we have so many lying around, you know), and a talk radio mode that apparently enhances the sound of talk programs (there's a Rush Limbaugh joke in there somewhere, but we'll let it slide). And since this is Bose, none of this comes cheap. Get ready to drop over $800US if you want get some of that Bose cachet for yourself.

if you want to use it as an alarm to wake you up in the morning, use the old version! the previous generation has a giant snooze button on top. this one requires you to find the remote and then find the proper button to snooze.

I have the old one and it is the worst clock radio I have ever purchased.

The sound is horrible and it's close to impossible to find the correct button in the morning when the alarm goes off.

Ok well this is VERY old news since the Wave Music System has been out since October 2004!! Is this supposed to be new news? The Price is $499US NOT $800US.

The sound is definatly better than the old Wave Radio CD (now it finally has a headphone connection) but no buttons on top so people can put it under a kitchen counter. Wouldn't be Surprised if they are going to come out with another remote for people that want to use it as a bedroom alarm (ie large snooze). Right now better to use in a family room as a small stereo. Great sound for its size but not for sound aficionados.

On another note, I see no reason to upgrade to this one. THOUGH, if Bose threw in a SIRIUS tuner in the mix, I might.

If you want satellite radio on the Wave, get the smallest you can find that has an FM transmitter on it. Let's not forget that Sirius' music channels are available through Dish Network.

I hope that Bose comes out with the XM ready port so all you have to do is add the XM Connect & Play antenna and you are good to go. I think you will see this feature in TONS of electronics. It's in my new Yamaha home theater receiver!

How can you say that Bose doesn't sound great? I mean, those setups at BestBuy are the bomb, right? Sure entire chunks of the audio spectrum are missing, but, well, if it sounds this good, then you obviously don't _need_ those parts anyway. Personally, I think anyone who has an AV receiver, pure flow amp, and full-range speakers is just wasting their money. I just plug the audio out from my TV into a Bose Wave, and it sounds just as good!

Ask a Bose salesperson why they can't show you standard audio characteristic measurements. I'm talking about basic stuff here, frequency response, impedence (Bose insists you use their audio equipment with their speakers), sensitivity, power output, power handling.

They'll insist that it's because Bose's technology surpasses tired old standard measurements that everyone else is using. Ask to see a frequency response chart.

I know $$ = Kitsch in this culture of ours, but educate yourself just a little and you can do way better for the money...

#7, you are an absolute moron, aren't you? Have you ever been to a Bose store and listened to their setups? The sound is un-effing-believable. Their $300 headphones? Worth every last penny. You've never heard a sound so good in your life.

Bose isn't just expensive. Yes, they carry pricy stuff - but Bose brings the end consumer the quality levels that professionals have at prices much lower than the professional equipment costs.

Let me just say that I bought a Bose Lifestyle 48 after spending hours comparing sounds in the Mall of America. Friends over at my house are still blown away by how such small speakers can produce such unbelievable sound.

Take your head out of your a$$, #7, and actually go LISTEN to what they have to offer.

I have always have been down on Bose. Although they have good products I always thought they are consistantly overpriced. They follow that successful American market theory "If you charge too much someone will buy it".
Recently I was given this Bose Radio. Since my cost was zero, the price was right. I must admit I was impressed with the sound. The Bose does have a lot of nice features and touches. It had no problems playing a CD of MP3 files I created on my computer. It is a quality product and I like it a lot, but I still think it is overpriced. I just glad mine didn't cost me anything.
I'm sure you can get as good or better sound from the Cambridge Soundworks Radio and its a lot cheaper.

P.S. Obviously, #7 is crude and ignorant. I would hope someday when he/she grows up will learn better ways to express his or her -self. Perhaps then others will actually take him or her seriouly.

I agree with #16 the Quiet Comfort II noise cancelation headphones sound great and work beautifully.
Also the lifestyle 48 sounds quite amazing... but for those who can afford their own personal home theater they may be willing to spend $4,000 per speaker to get the absolute ultamate in sound...
Yet I think most people out there when they hear the 48 and see that its $4,000 for the entire system and has amazing sound, thats all that matters.

#23 I have read this page extensively and the conclusions are impressive but out dated... This is on about 5 year old technology with an outdated passive base. If this was on about the The newer AM15II with the powered base then that would be something...
Even so I would really like for someone to find details about the Lifestyle 48 and its frequency ranges since that is Boses latest technology and really sounds great. If someone knows a website that tested the LS48 please leave a link!!

I always say that with sound, if you like what you hear and you COMPARE with what others are selling out there for the same price range, Then go with what you like. Thers no way that a $4,000US system would ever compare with a $20,000US system (one hopes) so don't go out expecting it to.

But before you say anything just go and check them out and see if they are good for the price range. Dont trust what anyone else says about what you hear because they are after all your own ears! And if you listened to the best consumer grade speakers that Bose has to offer and still dont like... cool... Just remeber to compare them with other consumer grade speakers in the same price range!

The new one is better in sound q. and performance, but no buttons on the top is rather annoying.

And, I have heard the LS48 - thats stunning to watch DVDs on. I was reading somewhere were someone said the Acoustimass barely goes down below 50Hz, I've heard much lower than that when I demoed it... and it was next to a JVC / Polk / JBL and a Pioneer system. I heard them all, and the Bose didnt seem to be rubbish at all.

I ordered to EUROSOUNDZ (Bose Lifestyle 48) and I paid them 4538 USD by October 3.
They did not send me anything ant do not answer my mails.
I really suspect it is a FRAUD.
If any of you have got any experience with Eurosoundz, please mail me.
